TRB Paper 01-3440 Estimation of Annual Average Daily Traffic in a Florida County Using GIS and Regression
نویسندگان
چکیده
Accurate Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) information is important to many applications including roadway design, air quality compliance, travel model validation, etc. Yet complete or even extensive coverage of a network to collect traffic count data is impractical due to the cost involved. There have been studies to estimate AADT for interstate highways, expressways, urban roads, and rural roads. Such efforts are often hampered by the lack of relevant detailed information that adequately explains variations in the traffic counts. In this paper, a multiple linear regression model of AADT on local roadways in a large urban area is presented. By employing geographic information system (GIS) technology, a variety of land use and accessibility measurements are developed and tested. While most are statistically significant, few add enough explanatory power to be practical and useful. Four models are presented, which achieved R of 0.66 to 0.82. The predictive power of the models are also examined.

Urban network risk assessment using Fuzzy-AHP and TOPSIS in GIS environment
Risk assessment of urban network using traffic indicators determines vulnerable links with high danger of traffic incidents. Thus Determination of an appropriate methodology remains a big challenge to achieve this objective. This paper proposed a methodology based on data fusion concept using Fuzzy-AHP and TOPSIS to achieve this aim. The proposed methodology tries to overcome two main problems,...

Non-motorized travel in terms of walking or bicycling plays a critical role in promoting healthy living style, offering sustainable alternatives to environmental impacts, energy consumption, and societal costs of motorized travel modes, and allocating limited resources for constructing pedestrian-orientated transportation infrastructure facilities. Historically, much research has been focused o...

This study examines the influence of accessibility to different types of employment on single-family residential property values using hedonic regression analysis. Using tax assessors’ property attribute records, regional travel demand model outputs, and real property sales transactions from King County, Washington in 1995 and 1998, a hedonic regression analysis is used to determine whether con...

متن کاملThe Assessment of Applying Chaos Theory for Daily Traffic Estimation
Road traffic volumes in intercity roads are generally estimated by probability functions, statistical techniques or meta-heuristic approaches such as artificial neural networks. As the road traffic volumes depend on input variables and mainly road geometrical design, weather conditions, day or night time, weekend or national holidays and so on, these are also estimated by pattern recognition te...
